TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A dog who went missing from his Miami home in December was found more than 250 miles away, right here in Tampa.

According to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, “Ace” showed up as a stray last week.

Thanks to his microchip, the team was able to contact his owners, who said Ace escaped their yard five months ago.

His owners never stopped searching, but as time went on, they said they started to lose hope until the Humane Society of Tampa Bay made the call.

“They were so overjoyed and hopped in their car to make the drive to Tampa to reclaim Ace,” the Humane Society said.

Ace’s owners had an emotional reunion with their dog. The animal shelter credits the microchip for their happy ending.
