Out of the mouths of Tallahassee's babes comes truth about our capital city as it celebrates its bicentennial birthday.

The Tallahassee Democrat asked kids what they love most about the city they live in, and the answers probably won't surprise you.

The same things us adults cherish — the outdoors, friendly neighbors and spending time with family and friends — are what these kids also appreciate.

"I like the beaches because I like the sunsets," said 8-year-old Hawkins. "I like to fish at the beach. Last time I caught a squid."

We like the sunsets, too, Hawkins.

It's the little things, and the littles help remind us why Tallahassee is so great, even after 200 years.

This story is part of TLH 200: the Gerald Ensley Bicentennial Memorial Project . Throughout our city's 200th birthday, we'll be drawing on the Tallahassee Democrat columnist and historian's research as we re-examine Tallahassee history. Read more at tallahassee.com/tlh200 .
