Florida State baseball opens an ACC weekend series tonight at Wake Forest.
No. 7 FSU (30-6, 10-5) was on a five-game winning streak, finishing off a season sweep of Florida and winning three against Miami, before flopping Tuesday in a 13-6 loss to Mercer. Yoel Tejeda lasted only 1⅓ innings, while Hudson Rowan allowed four runs without recording an out in the fourth. No. 13 Wake Forest (24-12, 9-9) is also coming in off a non-conference loss, falling 8-5 on Tuesday against UNC Wilmington.
Tonight's probable starters are Jamie Arnold (7-1, 1.32 ERA) for the Seminoles and Chase Burns (7-1, 3.00) for the Demon Deacons. FSU's regular Friday starter, Cam Leiter, has not pitched since March 28 against Louisville. Arnold has the second-best ERA in the nation, though he allowed a season-high three runs last week against Miami. Burns enters with an NCAA-best 105 strikeouts.
