Rapp Park veterans memorial dedication ends long process
(Shenandoah) -- More than a year of work culminated in this past weekend's dedication of Rapp Park Recreation Area's veterans memorial. Wet, stormy weather didn't deter supporters from dedicating the memorial located at the park on Highway 48 north of Shenandoah. Placed at the west end of the park between the campground and the lake, the memorial entails a giant rock with a plaque honoring area veterans. Kala Varellas is a V-A whole health coach, and member of a committee spearheading the project. Varellas tells KMA News Saturday's dedication marked the end of a long process, which including relocating the giant rock provided by Schildberg's Construction's Braddyville quarry.
