    Below are summaries of local baseball games between May 9 and May 14, compiled by Sports Editor Nick Tabatt.

    USA Patriots defeats Browerville-Grey Eagle and I-C

    The Upsala/Swanville Patriots baseball team dominated the road game against Browerville-Eagle Valley Tuesday, May 14,

    The patriots won the first game of the double header, 8-1. Hunter Boeckermann earned two hits, two runs and had one run batted in. Bryce Binek earned one run, one hit and had two runs batted in. Zachariah Johnson pitched five innings, throwing three strikeouts. Isaac Gapinski pitched two innings, with one strikeout.

    The Patriots dominated the second game of the double header, winning 8-0. Daniel Kokett, Brody Kircher and Jack Leners earned two runs each. Jack Primus earned one run and had four batted in. Bryce Binek allowed three walks and threw nine strikeouts on the mound. Isaac Gapinski threw one strikeout in the seventh inning. Both teams had five hits.

    The Patriots hosted Crosby-Ironton Friday, May 10, winning with a 15-0 shutout. Jake Leners was one the top hitter in the game, with two hits, two runs and had two runs batted in. Binek also had two hits and two runs, along Binek pitched all seven innings, throwing three strikeouts and allowed two walks.

    Pioneers lose second game since the beginning of the season

    The Pierz Pioneers baseball team suffered its second loss of season Tuesday, May 14, losing to St. Cloud Cathedral on the road 5-1. The Pioneers’ only run was scored by Reese Young, batted in by Max Barclay. Chase pitched six innings, allowing one walk and throwing eight strikeouts.

    The Pioneers traveled to Mora Monday, May 13, walking away with a 6-3 victory. Reese Young led the team at the plate with three runs, two hits earned one ball on base. Weston Woitalla had two hits and one run. Brayden Haberman pitched six innings, earning 10 strikeouts

    The Pioneers hosted Melrose Area Friday, May 10, winning 5-1. Woitalla had one run, two hits and two runs batted in. Young pitched six innings in the game, with six strikeouts. Max Barclay pitched three innings with three strikeouts.

    The Pioneers also hosted Milaca Thursday, May 9, shutting them out 5-0. Chase Becker earned two hits, two runs and had one runner batted in. Nate Solinger had one hit and two runners batted in.

    Royals struggles in last three games

    The Royalton Royals baseball had a three-game week, starting with its latest home game against Holdingford Tuesday, May 14. The Royals lost 6-1, with Brady Yourczek going 1-3 at the plate and one run. The Royals lost a road game against Foley 16-1, with Sean Scmidtbauer having a three-base hit and one run batted in. The Royals suffered a lost at home agaist Maple Lake Thursday, May 9, losing 4-2. John Bzdok earned one walk and had one run batted in.
