    Below are summaries of local baseball games between April 25-May 1, compiled by Sports Editor Nick Tabatt.

    Patriots are 6-1 after last three games

    The Upsala/Swanville Patriots baseball team hosted Osakis Wednesday, May 1. Osakis won the game 9-6. The Patriots’ Bryce Binek had two hits and two runs batted in. Jake Leners had two hits and two runs. Binek pitched the first three innings of the game, throwing three strikeouts. Jack Primus threw one strikeout. The Patriots had 11 hits and one error in the game, while Osakis had 10 hits and four errors.

    The Patriots upset Border West 9-5 Tuesday, April 30. The Patriots’ Jack Primus earned two hits, two runs and had five runners batted in. Daniel Kokett pitched four out of the six innings played, throwing four strikeouts and two errors. The Patriots had sevem hits and four errors, while Border West had 11 hits and one error.

    The Patriots also took on Parkers Prairie Thursday, April 25, but didn’t get the same result as they lost 10-1. Brody Kircher earned the team’s only run and Zachariah Johnson made three hits. Johnson also led the team in pitching, thowing two strikeouts on the mound and allowed five to walk. The Patriots had nine hits and two errors. Parkers Prairie had one error and 12 hits.

    Flyers lose close battle to Pioneers

    The Little Falls Flyers baseball team had a close home game against the Pierz Pioneers, coming down to the last minute Wednesday, May 1. The Flyers came up short, losing 7-6.

    Joey Welinski led the team at the plate with two hits and three runs. Charlie Smieja pitched for a little over four innings, throwing three strikeouts on the mound and had three errors. Garrett Lindberg had six putouts in the field. The Flyers had seven runs and two errors overall, while the Pioneers had six hits and three errors.
