Thursday night, the Goodyear Fire Department received a call from a resident near Estrella Parkway and Elliot Road who said he needed help removing a Gila monster he found in his backyard.

Stand-up comedy show brings Latin representation
The Qué Funny Family Comedy Show is bringing stand-up comedy to the West Valley with a Latin twist. “I got a call from the city of Peoria and they said, ‘We have some time open in our calendar and we were thinking that comedy isn’t showcased enough in this area and we want to make it accessible for everyone,’” said Ernesto Ortiz, a stand-up comedian and producer of the show. “I’ve been in the art community for a long time, and that’s always been the challenge. … So, when a place like the city of Peoria comes out and says, ‘We hear you and we’re going to help with that,’ it’s a great feeling.”
