5 Best Restaurants in Lansing, Michigan You Need to Try Before Everyone Else Finds Them
Lansing, Michigan — a city where the Grand River carves through old neighborhoods and new ambitions, where red-brick factories lean into the future and the laughter of students, families, and dreamers mingles on tree-lined streets. Here, the skyline is a patchwork: domes and murals, glass towers and corner diners, each block humming with the stories of those who never left and those who found their way back. Lansing is a crossroads — of Midwestern grit and quiet hope, of auto workers and artists, of generations who gather at tables to share more than just a meal.

This Massive Michigan Farm Market Is A Grocery Lover’s Dream With A Huge Selection
More than 200 cheeses. A soup bar with over 36 rotating flavors. Coffee roasted in small batches right on site. All of that sits under one roof in Michigan, and the roof covers about 70,000 square feet. The whole thing started as a tiny roadside fruit stand back in 1959. I love a glow-up story, and this one is a beauty.

Toledo, Ohio — a city where the Maumee River glides beneath bridges old and new, where glass and steel rise beside brick warehouses, and the laughter of families, artists, and dreamers mingles on tree-lined avenues. Here, the skyline is a patchwork: art deco towers, murals blooming on downtown walls, and the steady hum of industry softened by the warmth of neighborhood diners. Toledo is a crossroads — of Midwestern grit and quiet hope, of auto workers and musicians, of immigrants whose recipes and stories have become the city’s own.

Alicia LaZette, a former special education teacher, has her sights set on opening Rebel Pizza and Brews in downtown Monroe. She has set up a GoFundMe to cover essential startup costs. Her goal is to raise $2,800; she has raised $206 as of Wednesday, Nov. 4. More: Ralph Mahalak Jr. to be honored at Scouting dinner "There is a real need for this in my community," she wrote on the GoFundMe page. "If we can open in the next 6 to 9 months, this project could create about 15 to 20 full- and part-time positions." LaZette spent 10 years as a special education teacher, helping those with disabilities to learn job and life skills. When she moved to the Monroe area three years ago, she found that opportunities were scarce for her students. "So, I knew I wanted to do something, and I knew I wanted to do something that kind of stood out against the grain, and for some reason, pizza and beer just stuck in my head," she previously said. Part of the inspiration for the pizzeria were coffee shops
