Mt. Bachelor, OR, announced on the morning of May 1st, 2024 that their team was just "wrapping up de-icing and patrol work on Summit after about a foot of snow in the last week."
In other words, the resort is skiing top to bottom, surely a bragging right this late in the season. See below.
Mt. Bachelor has received 2 inches of fresh snow overnight, 6 inches in the last 48 hours, and 15 inches over the last week. The resort has seen 365 inches of snow this season in total, and has a base depth of 92 inches.
As of 9am this morning, parking was reported to be almost full.
The snow reporter's update announced that the storm has, as of now, moved out of the area, but delivered a spectacular alpenglow sunrise this morning with cloudless skies today.
Temperatures at West Village and Summit are currently 10 degrees and Pine Marten is experiencing a slight inversion, but is still only 15 degrees.
Forecasts are calling for mild winds and a high in the mid 30's. Summit will likely start the day on hold while ops teams clean towers, load chairs, and perform avalanche mitigation work.
Groomed trails should be skiing and riding very well today with the new snow tilled nicely into the surface to produce that pristine corduroy we all love. Off piste could be chopped up in some areas, but there are still powder stashes to be found.
All in all, it's a great day for spring skiing (that may feel more like winter) at Mt. Bachelor.
