SUMMIT, NJ -- The Summit Boys Lacrosse Team finished the regular season this week with a 13-2 win over West Essex on Wednesday and a 6-1 victory versus No. 2 ranked Ridgewood on Saturday.

In Saturday’s home game, the score was tied after the first period, 1-1, but then it was all Summit the rest of the way as Cole Sabol scored two goals to help lead No. 7 Summit. Daniel Flaim had a goal and three assists for Summit.

Goalie Robbie Kievit made 12 saves to highlight a strong defensive effort for Summit.

The Hilltoppers finished the regular season with a 14-2 record and now will prepare this week for the upcoming state playoffs that start at the end of next week.

“The team continues to improve, and many different players have been contributing,” Coach Jim Davidson said. “The team is excited about the playoffs, and we are focused on putting forth their best effort in each game that we play.

“The strength of the team has been teamwork and the willingness to work hard and improve every day in practice,” the coach said.

After last week’s win over Westfield to capture its sixth straight UCT title, Flaim explained the team’s focus. “We show up to practice every day to work no matter what happens,” he said.  “That’s the culture of this program. That’s the players, the coaches, the alumni, the parents, everybody. It’s unbelievable. It just shows how great this program is from top to bottom.”
