This Mississippi Diner Has Served Hot Tamales From The Same Recipe Since 1939
A corn husk should not carry this much local history. These hot tamales have been part of Vicksburg since 1939, when they were sold from a pushcart before the business ever had a permanent home. That story still shows up in every order. Mississippi Delta tamales run smaller and spicier...

This Longtime Mississippi Cafe Feels Like An Old Downtown Diner, With Blue Plates Ordered Right At The Counter
From the parking lot, it looked like just another spot along a busy suburban road in Mississippi. I almost kept driving, but my stomach had other plans. Inside, the room opened up like one of those big old downtown cafes, with a long counter, a glass case full of cakes, and plates of Southern food heading to every table. It turned out to be the kind of place that makes you plan your next visit before you finish your first meal.

Nell Grace helps revitalize Jackson’s once-thriving Farish Street District
Stepping into Nell Grace is less like walking into a restaurant and more like melting into the soft, unhurried warmth of Big Mama’s embrace. The restaurant is a hidden gem located at 111 East Church St., in downtown Jackson’s historic Farish Street District. And it is the vision of a father and son, Marc and Devan Rowe, who opened Nell Grace in January.

These high-end restaurants and 13 others set to open in Jackson area
The Oxbow American Grill leads the list of restaurants and other dining options that were among about 15 food-service permits awarded in and around the Jackson area last month by the Mississippi State Department of Health . The Oxbow American Grill, which is under construction in the former Sombra Mexican Kitchen space at The Township at Colony Park in Ridgeland, received its permit from the Mississippi State Department of Health last month. Owners told the Clarion Ledger that no opening date has been set, although they said a late fall opening remains a realistic target. The restaurant is being developed by Jason Brumm and Jud Heubach and will feature a menu inspired by regional American flavors and cooking traditions from across the country. Rather than focusing on a single cuisine, The Oxbow will draw from a variety of culinary influences reflecting Brumm's experiences working in destinations ranging from Florida's Panhandle to Nashville and Colorado mountain communities. "A career spent cooking, traveling and living in some incredible places has shaped how I think about food beyond any one style," Brumm told the Clarion Ledger. "I wanted Oxbow to be a place I could come back to and not order the same

Fabulous burgers and wings are hiding in this small MS Delta town
Are these the best hamburgers in Mississippi? That question was recently asked on Facebook by a restaurant in the Mississippi Delta. Given Mississippi's reputation for food , that's a bold question to ask. But according to locals, Southern Satisfaction Restaurant has the burgers to back it up and more. "It's the only place around here that I know of where you can get a homestyle burger ," said Gavin Roberson of Moorhead. "He takes the ground meat and makes the patty himself and the meat isn't frozen. "He makes the food like he's making it for himself or his family or a cookout. You can tell he puts more effort into his food than other places do. I get their cheeseburger with everything on it and bacon. Their bacon is cooked right. He knows how to season burgers really good. It's good every time. I've never had a bad experience there." Southern Satisfaction Restaurant is located in Moorhead. On the off-chance you've never heard of Moorhead, here's little about it. According to the website censusreporter.org , it has a population of just over 1,400 people and has a footprint of 1.3 square miles. It sits in Sunflower County and is
