    Here's a look at local baseball action from the weekend

    STURGIS — The Sturgis baseball team was upended 8-0 by Niles on Friday afternoon. There was supposed to be a double header played, but the second game was halted because of weather.

    Niles scored six runs in the second inning.

    Camden Duffey struck out three for Sturgis and allowed only one earned run.

    At the plate, Carter Oswald and Gibson Cary each had a hit.

    Constantine's baseball team fell twice on Saturday to St. Francis, 12-2 and 8-5. Brody Godfrey had two hits for the Falcons in the first game. The second game saw Cooper Juday, Jack Larink and Gaven Lewis each score two hits. Godfrey, Alex Brossman, Austin Forrester and Caleb Bontrager each had a base hit as well.

    Centreville split a double header with Union City on Saturday, winning 6-5 and dropping an 8-5 decision. Matt Swanwick earned the win in the first game, striking out three. Kobe Carpenter led the offense with two hits, Swanwick collected tow hits as well. Vinny Jines and Tristan Smeltzer both had run-scoring hits. Swanwick, Smeltzer and Cash Dentler each had two hits in the second game.

    The Marcellus baseball team swept Marin on Friday, winning 3-2 and 13-1. Cale Hackenberg had two hits and drove in a run while Abram Coffey had a run-scoring hit as well. Coffey picked up the win with four strikeouts. Marcellus won the second game, 13-1. Hackenberg had two hits and drove in two, both Matthew Lehew and Coffey registered a base hit. Cole Thornburgh was credited with two RBI. Coffey earned the win in this game as well.

    White Pigeon won a pair of baseball games over Bangor on Thursday. The Chiefs scored wins of 6-2 and 7-6. In the first game, Clayton Grandstaff had two singles and Dace Kochel doubled. Brody Block and Zack Sowards-Hack singled. Block picked up the victory with eight strikeouts. In the second game, Block registered three singles while Kochel, Bristol Ultz and Devin Smith each scored a base hit. Sowards-Hack had a bases-loaded walk to score the winning run.

    On Saturday, White Pigeon dropped 17-2 and 16-1 decisions to Climax-Scotts. Block, Kochel and Branson Schwartz each recorded a base hit.

    Athens beat Burr Oak last week, 12-0. The Bobcats saw Austin Cole start the game and register eight strikeouts on the mound. Garrett Johnson hit a single in the game as well.

    The Colon baseball team beat Bellevue on Thursday, 10-6. The Magi registered seven hits in the game. Wyatt Downs drove in two runs with a base hit while Maverick Downs and Gabe Terry each had run-scoring hits as well. Kaleb Thaxton, Ayden Delp, Carter Person and Dominick Mock each belted a base hit. Person earned the win.

    Three Rivers dropped an 8-4 decision to Vicksburg on Friday. The second game was called because of weather. Jace Gray, Luis Warmack, Kaleb Williams, Maddox Hagen and Carson Beuter each had base hits for the Cats in the first game.
