ACGC Boys Capture Third While Girls Finish Eighth in West Central Activities Conference Track Championship

(Stuart, IA) – The ACGC Chargers boy’s and girl’s teams had to spread their conference meet out to two different days on both Wednesday and Thursday due to the weather conditions on the back end of Wednesday’s meet. The boys were able to earn third with a total of 113 team points while the girls came in eighth with 43 team points. Madrid was able to capture the boy’s team title with 149 team points while the girl’s title was claimed by Van Meter with 138 team points.

Looking at some of the highlights for the ACGC boys team, the boys were able to take quite a few top finishes in the meet. Lance Bunde was able to go away as a conference champion in the high jump with a jump of 6’5″ while Mike Fuller earned first in the discus throw with a throw at 133’7″. Continuing with the individual finishes, Treyton and Brexton Schneider came in second and third in the 110-meter hurdles respectively. Treyton also was able to earn third in the high jump, Eli Madsen came in fourth in the 200-meter dash, Gavin Sloss finished fourth in the 800-meter run, Andrew Mahaffey finished fifth in the 1600-meter run and fourth in the 3200-meter run. Easton Stringham earned seventh in the 400-meter dash, Tate Fever earned third in the 400-meter hurdles, and Payton Jacobe was fourth in the shot put.

In the relay events, ACGC took a lot of second-place finishes, including the 4×100-meter relay, 4×200-meter relay, and the 4×400-meter relay. The Chargers also came in third in the 4×110-meter shuttle hurdle.

On the girl’s side, the girls featured Ava Campbell in first place once again in the 800-meter run at 2:23.09 as their only first-place individual finisher. Campbell also capitalized on a third-place finish in the 1500-meter run to help add more team points on the board. The Chargers also featured Savannah Akers in eighth place in the 400-meter dash, Meranda Gruber earned sixth in the 100-meter hurdles, and Cadence Petersen finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles.

In the relay events, the Chargers finished second in the distance medley, fifth in the 800-meter sprint medley, and sixth in the 4×100-meter relay.
