    Woman pleads guilty to conspiracy of straw purchases

    EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — A Stroudsburg woman has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to make straw purchases of firearms.

    On Wednesday, U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam announced that 44-year-old Yesenia Ramos pleaded guilty on May 5 to conspiracy to make false statements in connection to the purchases of multiple firearms from federally licensed firearm dealers.

    U.S. Attorney Karam said Ramos admitted that 34-year-old Windall Mitchell from East Stroudsburg gave false information to licensed gun dealers regarding 15 firearms purchased between May 2021 and June 2022.

    Pottsville man sentenced to 8 years in prison for meth trafficking

    Officials say Mitchell was sentenced to 30 months in prison on April 30.

    The maximum penalty under federal law for conspiring to make false statements to firearms dealers is five years in prison with a term of supervised release following imprisonment and a fine.
