Bedford Sets Public Hearing for Land Acquisition Funding Laws
BEDFORD, N.Y. - A task force advocating a new way to fund Bedford’s open-space land acquisitions has substantially revised its proposed property-transfer fee and, as a consequence, lowered once more the expected revenue it would produce. First proposed in March as a flat 2 percent levy on the priciest real estate transactions, the transfer tax has become in its latest iteration a series of stepped fees.
