Here's how North DeSoto softball fell short in a bid for its fourth straight state title

North DeSoto’s bid for a record fourth consecutive LHSAA state championship fell short Saturday afternoon in the LHSAA Non-Select Division II state championship game.

Lutcher got a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, from Blair Clement to dominate the Lady Griffins 9-4.

The Lady Bulldogs (22-7) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth and never looked back against the Lady Griffins (30-5) who were seeking a ninth LHSAA state championship for 2023 Shreveport Times Coach of the Year Tim Whitman.

The No. 1 seed entering the postseason, North DeSoto had little trouble in the playoffs before Saturday winning their first three playoff contests by a combined 31-2 score. But the Lady Griffins trailed 5-0 before Payton Miller hit a home run in the bottom of the fourth. ND got within 5-3 before Clement hit her second home run and the visitors never looked back.
