The Oklahoma State Cowboys got a win in Austin on Sunday, taking the edge off two straight losses to the Longhorns.

The 'Pokes get only a couple of days to rest before the Texas Tech Red Raiders roll into Stillwater for a three-game series at O'Brate Stadium.

As for game three in Texas, Carson Benge contributed both offense and defense in the 7-2 victory two days ago. He hit a home run and scored twice.

Benge pitched 6 2/3 innings (the most in his college career) - striking our five and giving up two walks.

The Longhorns managed only one run and two hits during his mound stint.

Colin Brueggeman lofted a two-run smash over the center-field fence to gain a lead for OSU. After that, the Cowboys never trailed.

Despite the end result, OSU might have been glad to leave UFC Disch-Falk Field.

In game two, trailing 2-0 after a good first inning for Texas, the Cowboys made things interesting with one run in the fifth, then knotted the score at 2-2 in the top of the seventh.

But that was the start of a see-saw. The Longhorns scored a run, to reach a 3-2 advantage.

The Cowboys got a run to start the eighth, tying things up. OSU seemed positioned to catch the Longhorns in the latter stages.

    Alas, ’twas not to be.

For Texas, three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning made it 6-3, and that’s how it ended.

For the Cowboys, Benge had two hits, while Bruggemann and Lane Forsythe each had one.
