    Boys volleyball: Ponies sweep Hope Academy

    OAK PARK HEIGHTS — The Stillwater boys volleyball team improved to 2-1 in home matches this season with a 3-0 nonconference victory over Hope Community Academy on Monday, April 29 at Stillwater Area High School.

    The Ponies prevailed by scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-18.

    Stillwater (1-1 East Conference, 5-9) also finished with a 1-3 record while competing in a tournament on April 26-27 at Eastview High School.

    The Ponies opened with a 2-0 loss (25-15, 25-17) against Lakeville North (5-3) on Friday before winning one of three matches on Saturday.

    Stillwater dropped a 2-0 decision against Minneapolis Washburn (6-3) in the opener on Day 2, losing by scores of 26-24 and 25-13, before rebounding with a 25-13 and 28-26 victory over Lakeville South (2-8). Then in the final match, Stillwater was swept by Minneapolis Edison (4-5), falling by scores of 25-9 and 25-17.

    North St. Paul (2-0 EC, 7-2-1) joined St. Paul Harding (2-0, 3-2) as the only remaining East Conference teams without a loss in league play as the Polars defeated Stillwater three games on Thursday, April 25 at SAHS.

    The Polars prevailed by scores of 25-17, 25-12 and 25-12.

    Stillwater was scheduled to face Tartan on the road in another East Conference match on Thursday, May 2.
