    Boys lacrosse: Third-ranked Ponies reel off seventh straight victory

    OAK PARK HEIGHTS — A nine-goal first period propelled the Stillwater boys lacrosse team to a 16-5 Suburban East Conference victory over Park on Wednesday, May 1 at Stillwater Area High School.

    It was the seventh straight victory for the third-ranked Ponies, who have outscored their opponents by a combined 96-46 this season.

    Stillwater (5-0 SEC, 7-0), which has won four conference titles in the past five seasons, holds a one-game lead over fellow SEC title contenders East Ridge (4-1, 6-1), Mounds View (4-1, 5-2) and White Bear Lake (4-1, 4-2).

    Anderson Wagner delivered four goals and Grant Giese added three to lead the Ponies against Park (1-3, 2-4).

    Luke Geisbauer added two goals and three assists while Brock Lynskey added two goals. Aiden Sargent also chipped in with two assists as 13 Ponies collected at least one point in the game.

    Goals — Par, Sam Reckinger 2, Bradley Johnson, Angelo Cullen and Evan Foote; St, Anderson Wagner 4, Grant Giese 3, Brock Lynskey 2, Luke Geisbauer 2, Austin Novotny, Nick Hornbuckle, Jack Mellgren, Keiran Jones and Maverick Purcell.

    Assists — Par, Jacob Czarnota and Blake Bestler; St, Geisbauer 3, Aiden Sargent 2, Jones, Isaac Johnston, Novotny, Easton Abrams, Wagner, Zach Holmen and Giese.

    Saves — Par, Gavin Sand 11; St, Casey Mork 7.

    Stillwater 10, Cretin-Derham Hall 6

    At Oak Park Heights, the Ponies outscored Cretin-Derham Hall 5-0 in the third quarter to take control in an eventual 10-6 conference victory on Friday, April 26 at SAHS.

    Grant Giese scored five goals and Anderson Wagner added three for the Ponies, who led 5-4 at halftime before extending the lead in the third. Luke Geisbauer also supplied a goal and two assists.

    Goaltender Beck Lewis finished with 15 saves to keep the Raiders in the game. Luke Chorlton added two goals and three assists for Cretin-Derham Hall (3-2 SEC, 3-3).
