Marian Robinson, Michelle Obama's mother, passes away at 86
CHICAGO - Marian Robinson – a Chicago native and former mother to First Lady Michelle Obama – has died. Robinson was born in Chicago in 1937 and lived on the South Side her entire life until moving to Washington, D.C. in 2009 to help take care of her granddaughters after the election of President Barack Obama.

Tollway to hand out free transponder stickers in Justice
Earlier this year, the Illinois Tollway began phasing out the plastic I-Pass transponder and introduced a sticker tag that goes on your vehicle’s windshield. If you’re still using a transponder, or want to get a new sticker, the Village of Justice is the place to be on Saturday, June 8.
Chicago Air and Water Show, Taste of Chicago shift festival dates for 2024
Two iconic Chicago summer festivals won't be held on their typical dates this year due to other major events taking place. The Chicago Air and Water Show, which typically takes place the third week of August, this year will be held Aug. 10 and 11, the city said. The event dates were moved due to the Democratic National Convention, taking place at Chicago's United Center Aug. 19 through Aug. 22.
Windy City Smokeout announces more details about 2024 festival
More details about Chicago's popular Windy City Smokeout festival for 2024 have been announced. The country music, barbecue and beer festival, scheduled for July 11 through 14 outside the United Center, will see more than 20 artists and numerous food and beer vendors. Headliners for the festival were previously announced and include Thomas Rhett, Parker McCollum, Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood.
