Caledonia Area Warriors softball dropped a game to the Stewartville Tigers 2-1 on Monday, April 29 but bounced back against the La Crescent-Hokah Lancers to take both games of a doubleheader, 10-4 and 12-5.

    Against Stewartville

Braelyn Lange took the circle for the Warriors for this matchup and had a very strong outing. She would go the whole game, allowing five hits and two runs, but striking out 12. Unfortunately, the bats could not effectively wake up, only scoring one run off of a Braelyn Lange double in the third inning. The Tigers would scrounge two runs in the fourth and sixth innings, and that’s all they’d need to take the matchup against the Warriors.

Top hitters for the Warriors included Avery Augedahl, Braelyn Lange, Elsa Blum and Aubrie Klug, all going 1 for 3 in the contest.

The Warriors came back to end the week on an extremely positive note by winning two against the Lancers in their doubleheader on Thursday, May 2.

Braelyn Lange once again started pitching for the Warriors in the first game. Lange would go all seven innings again allowing seven hits and four runs, all the while fanning 13 in the game. Lange helped her own cause early by sending an absolute shot over the left center field fence to go up by two runs early in the first.

The Lancers would come back in the next two innings to go up 3-2, but after the 5th inning, they would not be able to score any more. The Warriors would tally 10 total runs in the game, and would take the first game 10-4. The Warriors scored a bunch of hits in this game with top hitting seen by Avery Augedahl who was 3 for 4 with 4 RBI, Annah Anderson with 3 for 4 with one RBI, Braelyn Lange who was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and Kennedy Hansen who was 3 for 5 on the night.

Second game saw Avery Augedahl start for the Warriors who would also go all seven innings, giving up five runs on five hits, and striking out 10 for the game. The Warriors would begin their offensive assault from the very start of the game, scoring two, four and three runs in the first, second and third innings, respectively.

Caledonia would add three more runs in the 6th, after La Crescent scored four in the top of that same inning. They would add one more, but could not overcome the score – giving the Warriors the second win of the night.

Final score 12-5 Warriors. Top hitters for the second game included Adrienne Lange who would go 4 for 4 with two RBIs, Vivianne Kittleson with a 3 for 3 performance and one RBI, and Aubrie Klug who would go 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Next up for the Warriors is a matchup against the Chatfield Gophers in Chatfield on Tuesday, May 7.
