One of the area’s best has finally found a home for the foreseeable future.

Federal Hocking’s Tariq Cottrill, the two-time reigning District 13 Division IV Player of the Year in basketball, has committed to continue his athletic journey at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Alongside being named the best player in the district the past two seasons, the four-year varsity starter has also been named the TVC Player of the Year, First Team All-District and earned All-Ohio nods in his illustrious career for the Lancers.

Aside from the individual statistics, Cottrill was also a centerpiece in arguably the greatest run in Federal Hocking basketball history. Helping to win the school’s first District title in over 50 years in 2022-23, the point guard then helped the team get back to the District title game this past season before falling.

In his senior year, Cottrilll averaged 23.5 points-per-game, five rebounds-per-game, 4.5 assists-per-game and three steals-per-contest.

Ohio Wesleyan is a Division III school in Delaware, Ohio. The Battling Bishops compete in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). The school earned a six-seed in the NCAC tournament at the end of this previous season, falling in the quarterfinal matchup.
