GLOUSTER — Using an eight-run second inning to help jump out to an early lopsided lead, Trimble would grab another divisional victory on Monday afternoon, taking down Federal Hocking 14-1 in five innings. It would be the seventh straight victory for the Tomcats (12-4, 5-3 Tri-Valley Conference-Hocking) following a three-game skid earlier in the month.

Despite racking up more than a dozen runs, Trimble would only need seven hits to help pour on to the scoreboard, drawing 10 walks in the game to help get runners on base.

Owen Sikorski would finish with a 2-2 day at the plate, driving in a pair of runs while scoring three. Paul Sharp would record two RBIs on a pair of hits while Brandon Burdette also smacked two hits and drove in a run to go along with two runs scored. Will Sharp would grab the only other hit for the team while Cole Wright drove in a pair of runs.

Paul Sharp would get the start on the mound, picking up the win after tossing four innings of four-hit ball, allowing one unearned run while striking out seven and walking two. Caleb Cahoe would strike out the side in an inning of relief to end the game.

For the Lancers (0-15, 0-8 TVC-Hocking), Glen Wilkes would grab a hit and the team’s lone run scored. Cody Mettler would go 1-2 at the plate with an RBI while William Morgan also added a hit.

Rylan Poston would get the start on the mound for Federal Hocking, lasting just three innings while allowing 11 earned runs on seven hits, walking nine. Wilkes would then toss a scoreless inning in relief.

Taking advantage of some early mistakes from the Lancers, Trimble would first put two across home plate with a wild pitch and an error in the first inning before completely blowing things wide open in the second.

Seeing the first seven batters of the second frame reach base, RBI singles from Burdette and Sikorski would highlight the eight-run inning, making it a 10-0 game less than nine outs into the contest.

Federal Hocking would get its lone run of the night in the top of the third with an RBI single into left field from Mettler but the Tomcats would quickly continue the barrage.

An RBI double from Sikorski would help kick off a four-run third inning to increase the lead over the double-digit margin. After the catcher later scored in the inning on a wild pitch, a two-run single from Sharp would bring in the 14th run of the afternoon for the Tomcats.

Federal Hocking would get a pair of runners on base in the top of the fourth but couldn’t seem to capitalize, eventually falling in five innings to a divisional rival once the mercy rule was put into effect.
