Milestones and OT winners: Vote for the High School Girls Lacrosse Player of the Week
Algonquin Regional's Bella Roman and Grace Chiota have been voted the High School Girls Lacrosse Players of the Week. The duo combined to receive over 12,000 votes. Roman scored 9 goals, including the winner with 46 seconds remaining in a 15-14 win over Hopkinton. Chiota had 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists). In an 11-10 win over North Middlesex, Chiota had 6 goals and 2 assists. She scored the winning goal and notched her 100th career point. Roman chipped in 4 goals and 2 assists.
RUNsilience: Students Train and Run a Half Marathon Together
65 students, 9 weeks, 4 Holy Cross staff, and a lot of great energy! Associate Director of Student Wellness, Joy LaGrutta, and Alex Weld, NP, led a group of students in training for a half marathon. Last year, the program began with Women on the Run, a group celebrating 50 years of coeducation through an all women group training for a half marathon. This year, the program was open to everybody, with a new name: RUNsilience. The program began in late February, where students attended a 6am morning run. The first run was 5 miles, and each consecutive week, students ran one more mile! The program culminated with 65 students running a half marathon in Hamilton, MA on April 21. James Blum ‘26 won second place in the race.
At two-day Saratoga regatta, girls bring back bling
The girls varsity crews of the Bromfield Acton-Boxborough rowing team brought some medals back from the Saratoga Invitational regatta in New York April 27 and 28. Both boys and girls turned in strong finishes at the two-day competition. High winds caused multiple problems, including the cancellation of some races as well as a domino-effect fender bender that scratched the boys’ new racing shell on its maiden voyage.
