High School Softball Update, 05/30/23: Bulldogettes Advance to State Tournament!
Last week, Coahoma and Forsan High School softball teams competed for their respective Regional Championship. Coahoma won their 3-game series with final scores of 10-0 and 14-1 against Lamesa. Both times they run ruled the Golden Tornadoes in the 5th inning. This week they’ll move on to state softball tournament in Austin. Tomorrow they’ll play Rains in the first round of the tournament for the UIL State Semi Finals. That game will be at 1 pm at the Red & Charline McCombs Field on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.
HIGHLIGHTS: Forsan falls in regional final ending season
ABILENE, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Forsan Lady Buffaloes lost 15-1 against Stamford in the Region 1-2A final. Forsan lost the series opener 6-1 before losing the second game of their best-of-three series on Saturday. Watch the video above for highlights.
Stamford thunders by Forsan to secure third-straight state softball berth
Stamford won a state title in 2021, then lost 1-0 in the state semifinals last year. As we've learned recently, when it rains, it pours in Abilene. After a 1½-hour rain delay, Stamford poured it on Forsan, breaking open a close game with 11 runs the final two innings to earn its third straight Class 2A state softball berth with a 15-1 victory Saturday over the Lady Buffs at ACU's Wells Field.

Wall, Mason, Garden City bring home golf state championships
The Wall, Mason and Garden City girls high school golf teams brought home state championships from their respective classes on Tuesday. In Class 3A, Wall team finished the first day with a score of 332, and then followed with a 342 on on day two to clinch the state championship. The Hawks won by five strokes more than second-place Odessa Compass Academy.

KYLE – Blanket’s Karli Kinkade and the Eula Lady Pirates each finished third at the Class 1A girls state golf tournament Tuesday at Plum Creek Golf Course. Happy’s Halee Jo Johnson shot 5-over-par 76 on the final day to defend her state title. Garden City’s Rylee Wood and Kinkade finished second tied at 173, but Wood won a playoff for the silver medal.
Local Valedictorians and Salutatorians and Graduation Dates
HOWARD COUNTY, TX — Graduation is right around the corner. Coahoma High School has its graduation scheduled for Thursday, May 18th, at Bill Easterling Memorial Stadium. Valedictorian is Jocelyn Young. Salutatorian is Zoie Joslin. Forsan High School will have their graduation on May 26th at the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum.
Softball Playoff Updates, 05/12/23
Last night, Forsan Lady Buffs played Game 1 against Ralls as part of a 3-game series for the Regional Quarterfinal Championship. Final score was 10-8 in favor of Ralls. Forsan Lady Buff Aleena Nelson will compete in the shot put competition in the State Track and Field Competition in Austin today! Good luck to her!. Also, congratulations to the Forsan golfers who received recognition as Academic All State Golf. Those students are Trevor Cole, Jordyn Keeton, Nolan Park, and Cade Wallis.
