Repairs to ‘Mile Long Bridge’ and road construction on Walker to begin this week; reduced speeds in effect
Breckenridge and Stephens County are scheduled for additional repairs/road work by the Texas Department of Transportation with two separate projects beginning this week. The projects will include work on the “Mile Long Bridge” over Hubbard Creek Lake (Reservoir) and work on West Walker Street from downtown Breckenridge to the bridge, according to reports.

Abbi Duran wins first Breck’s Got Talent competition
This year’s Stephens County Frontier Days featured the debut of Breck’s Got Talent, and Breckenridge High School sophomore Abbi Duran took home the top prize. Duran played the guitar and sang “Something in Orange” for her entry in the competition that replaced the previous talent contest, “Breckenridge Idol.” She also accompanied contestant Preslie Malcuit on the keyboard as Malcuit sang “Never Enough.” Malcuit came in second in the talent competition. Duran, who is the drum captain of the BHS drum line, also led the drum line in a performance to entertain the crowd as the Breck’s Got Talent judges’ votes were tallied.
