STAUNTON — James Dean has worked in the buy-and-sell business for a number of years, working at a pawn shop in Harrisonburg. In March, he opened his own store, the Mystery Shack at 2501 N. Augusta St. in Staunton.

"There's not really much like this around here," Dean said of his decision to open in Staunton. He is strictly in the buy-and-sell business now, saying he doesn't do pawns at the new store.

Dean specializes in guns and jewelry. He has a federal firearms license and can do online firearm transfers.

On a recent Friday afternoon, Dean had various other items in the store also. He had musical instruments, game systems, tools, lawn equipment, a generator, compact discs, televisions, glassware and stereo equipment, among other items.

"Anything I can make a little bit of money on," he said.

The store is open Tuesdays through Fridays 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
