Dez White committed to Missouri State men's basketball and will play for Cuonzo Martin about three years after he offered the former Jefferson City standout when he was the head coach at Mizzou.

White announced his commitment to the Bears on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon.

White is coming off a freshman season at Austin Peay where he played for former Missouri State associate head coach Corey Gipson and played alongside former Bears including Demarcus Sharp and Isaac Haney. He was voted to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team and will have three seasons of eligibility.

White provides Missouri State with a needed scoring guard after he made 63 shots from deep last season, setting the program's freshman record. He averaged 7.9 points and 3.1 rebounds and was a 33% shooter from deep. He and Nick Kramer, who only played eight games last year due to injuries, are the only players on the new roster with college experience who shot better than 30% from deep last season.

His offers out of Helias Catholic included Mizzou, one from former Missouri State head coach Dana Ford, Southern Illinois, Tulsa, George Mason and others.

Instead of going straight to college, White played a year of prep ball at The Skills Academy Prep where he was top 20 in 3-point percentage among prep programs shooting 48%.

The 6-foot-2 guard joins an overhauled MSU men's basketball roster that currently has just two players returning from a year ago. Since his late March hiring, Martin has received eight commitments with five having two years of eligibility remaining. He has at least three scholarships to fill before the 2024-25 season.
