Monday, April 29: One more day to dry out before storm chances return
By Jamie Warriner,

This was a busy weekend for the weather across multiple states. Most notably in Nebraska, Iowa and Oklahoma where tornado outbreaks lead to large destruction around Omaha, NE , and parts of southern/eastern Oklahoma .
We saw a handful of brief tornadoes across Missouri with storm surveys confirming tornado touchdowns in Stone and Morgan Counties.
We’ve also seen an incredible amount of rainfall from Thursday through this morning. Near Fort Scott, KS recorded over 10″ during this time with a widespread 4″-8″ in Missouri.
Today was truly the calm after the storms. Sunshine was abundant for most with pleasant afternoon temperatures and humidity. The exception was closer to the stalled front near Salem, AR, and Alton, MO.
That front will gradually work north Tuesday into Wednesday with humidity and warmer temperatures returning to the region. A cold front moving in from the northwest will set the stage for episodes of strong to severe storms to the west and northwest Tuesday and Wednesday.
Locally, it looks like a quiet and clear night. Temperatures will cool into the 50s. There will be a risk of fog to the south and southeast.
Sunshine will be abundant again Tuesday with temperatures running higher. Humidity levels will generally remain comfortable though.
Some storms are possible in northern Kansas and around Kansas City Tuesday night. Much of our area will avoid this round of stormy weather, but there will likely be a fading line of showers and storms late Tuesday evening pushing east across areas near and north of Hwy. 54.
Wednesday will be warm and more humid with most areas remaining dry before another round of rain and thunder moves through Thursday. A few strong to severe storms with marginally severe hail and wind are possible, but the severe threat doesn’t look widespread.
Quieter weather moves in for a day Friday with an unsettled pattern to follow through the weekend into early next week. A trough in the West will send a series of storms through the region generating a daily chance for scattered storms. Severe weather can’t be ruled out, but at this stage it looks isolated in nature. The severe risk may be higher Tuesday of next week.
