SPRINGFIELD–The Springfield Cardinals and Arkansas Travelers combined to score 22 runs in their series finale on Sunday, but it was the Travelers who left town with a 15-7 victory.

The loss marked the fourth in-a-row for Springfield, which won the first two games of the series, but could not replicate their success over the final four.

Matt Lloyd and Jacob Buchberger hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the 4th to cap off a 6-run inning, which brought the team back within a run. Lloyd’s long ball was good for a grand slam, while Buchberger popped a solo home run.

The game was tied 8-8 entering the top of the 9th, but the Cardinals bullpen went belly-up, by surrendering 7 runs to lose in disappointing fashion.

At 14-7, the Cardinals still hold the best record in the Texas League, but only have that mark by one game.

Springfield now hits the road for two weeks, before returning to Hammons Field in the middle of May.
