    Crash at US-65 near James River sends two to hospital; police investigating

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday morning on southbound Highway 65 in Springfield that sent two women to the hospital.

    According to the Springfield Police Department, they got a report at 10:33 a.m. that a Mercury Mountaineer SUV and a Ford F-150 truck collided on southbound US-65.

    After the collision, the SUV ran left off the roadway and hit the center median barrier. The truck ran right off the roadway and struck an embankment.

    Both women involved in the accident were taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

    The accident closed down southbound US-65 and the East James River Freeway ramp to southbound US-65 as police investigated the crash.

    A further investigation of the cause and additional details of the crash is pending.
