SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Springfield man, wounded in a confrontation and departed the hospital prematurely to evade police, has been arrested and charged with assault after being on the run for over a month.

According to court documents, Larry Lillard, 39, was charged with second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

On Feb. 25, Lillard was involved in a fight that led to guns being drawn and shot in front of the Puff & Stuff on East Division Street. During the altercation, Lillard hit a man multiple times with a gun while getting shot himself.

Court documents say the police were waiting for him to get out of the hospital before they arrested him, but he left early against the advice of his doctors and had been on the run for more than a month until he was arrested yesterday.

Lillard was also charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, two counts of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery the day before the Puff & Stuff incident. Lillard was identified as one of the suspects who held a man hostage and beat him for an hour.
