Gunshot victim found on Boston Road in Springfield, suspect arrested

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A gunshot victim who was found on Boston Road in Springfield was taken to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries Monday morning.

Police blocked off a portion of a gas station at the intersection of Boston Road and Ambrose Street. A 22News crew could see evidence markers at the gas station, several cruisers, and a crime scene unit van.

According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, at around 10:30 a.m. officers were called to the 100 block of Boston Road for a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, a man suffering from a gunshot wound was located and taken to Baystate Medical Center.

During the investigation, detectives located the suspect, 35-year-old Tory Bryant of Springfield. He was arrested on the 0-100 block of Oak Grove Avenue and charged with the following:

• Assault to Murder
• Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
• Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
• Carrying a Firearm without a License
