Bugs Bunny brings Looney Tunes music to Springfield Symphony Hall

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Symphony Orchestra had a special guest Saturday afternoon as Bugs Bunny brought the music of Looney Tunes to hundreds of fans.

Springfield Symphony Hall hosted two performances Saturday of “Bugs Bunny at the Symphony” with a matinee at 2:30 p.m. and an evening performance at 7:30 p.m.

22News spoke with members of the Springfield Symphony who said that fans of all ages came to enjoy the music of their favorite cartoons.

“Space Jam fans, Looney Tunes original Saturday morning cartoon fans, it’s been incredible energy in there tonight,” Heather Gawron, Chief Operations Officer for the Springfield Symphony Orchestra said. “You hear people laughing, clapping, hooting, hollering, screaming, and you could just feel the energy and the joy…. feel it radiating around the room… it’s incredible.”

Throughout both shows, there were sixteen Looney Tunes animated shorts that were shown on the big screen above the orchestra, as their iconic classically-infused original scores were played.
