SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Police and Fire Departments are once again participating in the annual Cote-Sullivan Youth Fishing Derby this Saturday where kids can learn to fish with first responders.

Visit the Northeast Large Scale Train Show at The Big E this weekend

“Cops & Bobbers, Hooks & Ladders” is a free fishing program available to all kids up to the age of 12 this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Barney Pond in Forest Park. Kids will get a chance to learn how to fish with Springfield first responders. Fishing equipment will be provided.

The pond will be stocked with fish and trophies will be awarded to kids that catch tagged trout.

This annual fishing derby is in honor of Dick Cote and Marty Sullivan, both who were long-time Elks members and had a passion for fishing and making it available to everyone.
