Tent City Faces Legal Challenges Amid Ongoing Controversies
PRYOR, Oklahoma ~ The homeless shelter known as Tent City, located at 315 N. Adair, has recently come under scrutiny following the issuance of multiple citations to Janice Bell, the manager of the Impact Center. On May 8, 2024, Corporal Bennett and Sergeant Humphrey of the Pryor Creek Police Department issued citations to Bell under several city ordinances: Maintenance Disorderly House (5-40-7), Sewer Connection Required (9-9-2), Accumulation of Trash/Junk (4-5-20), and Failure to Purchase/Zoning Compliance Required (10-1-7). Bell's initial court appearance was scheduled for May 20, 2024, but the case has since been continued to June 24, 2024.
