    Spooner baseball nearing end of regular season play

    SPOONE R– Coach Josh Villella and the Spooner Rails baseball team are having a nice season, but as the end of May nears, the regular season play is also nearing an end.

    The Rails are currently 9-7 in the Heart O’ North Conference, and 12-8 in all games. They are in 6th place in the HON, which is led by Hayward with a record of 14-2.

    In doubleheader play at Spooner on Friday, May 11, the Rails split with the Golden Bears, losing 6-1, then beating Barron 12-2.

    On Tuesday, May 14, Spooner was scheduled to host St. Croix Falls. Spooner will play at Ladysmith on Thursday, Mat 16.

    Closing out the regular season, the Rails will be on the road to play at the Bloomer Blackhawks on Friday, May 17. The final regular season game of the season will be a non-conference home game for the Rails when they host Elk Mound on Tuesday, May 21.
