    Sparta Girls Lacrosse Edges Out Caldwell

    Sparta High School 2024 girls lacrosse beat Caldwell

    SPARTA, NJ – The girls lacrosse team battled to a 9-8 win on Monday over Caldwell, after honoring the seniors in a ceremony before the game. It was a physical game from whistle to whistle.

    Uma Kowalski and Moira Sweeney each netted four for Sparta.  Grace Johnson added a goal.  Brooke Weyant and Sweeney each had an assist.

    Goalie Sama Elhamouly had 14 saves against Caldwell.

    Caldwell had the upper hand in the first quarter putting four in the net to Sparta’s two. The Spartans got their footing in the second quarter netting three while the defense held the Chief to one, leaving the score even at the half.

    Sparta continued the pressure in the second half with the same 3-1 score in the third.  Caldwell got two in the fourth to bring it even again, but Sparta finished on top with a goal of their own.

    Sparta’s record moves to 11-3.  They will host Cranford on Wednesday.
