    Sparta Softball Beats Montville in Six Innings

    SPARTA, NJ – The Spartan softball team cruised past Montville on Monday with a 12-2 win in six innings.  Sparta got on the board with three in the second inning and two more in the third.  It took four innings for the Mustangs to get around the bases but Sparta’s bats exploded in the fourth adding six to their five-game lead. Sparta would add one more in the sixth to make it a short game.

    Gabrielle Heim got the win on three and 2/3s innings work.  She had nine strikeouts, gave up four walks and two runs.

    Grace Conrad had the other two and 1/3 innings in the circle, with a strikeout and a walk.

    Kiernan Moore scored four with an RBI.  Carly List went 2-for-4, scoring twice.  Alexia Hill also added two points going 1-for-2 with two walks.

    Grace Conrad scored with two RBIs.  Alexis Arpino scored with an RBI. Maya Laliker added a run going 1-for-4 with a single.

    Kathry Sutton scored, going 3-for-4 with two singles and a double.

    The girls’ record is 6-6. They will host High Point on Thursday.

    Their number three seed earns them a bye through the quarterfinal round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament.  On Saturday, May 4 they will host the winner of the Newton v Wallkill Valley game to be played on Wednesday.
