Southern Pines water earns high marks
The Town of Southern Pines recently released its annual water quality report for 2023, which noted safe drinking water without any violations of contaminant levels. Southern Pines routinely monitors its drinking water for over 100 contaminants. Some include turbidity, a measure of cloudiness that is a good indicator of filter system effectiveness; fluoride, a water additive that promotes strong teeth; copper and lead, which are caused by corrosion of household plumbing systems and erosion of natural deposits; and chlorine, a water additive that controls microbes.
