SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. (WWLP) – Two men were arrested in Southbridge Sunday after a ghost gun and ammunition were seized.

According to Southbridge Police, officers received information that 19-year-old Donnovin Aviles of Southbridge was allegedly in possession of a firearm without a license to carry. A short time later, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle where Aviles was a passenger.

The driver of the vehicle was asked to roll down all the windows because the tint was too dark. That’s when Southbridge police confirmed Aviles was seated in the back seat along with another woman, and a man sitting in the front passenger seat, later identified as 23-year-old Isaias Velasco Jr. of Southbridge.

Police asked Aviles to get out of the vehicle and was searched. They seized a ghost gun containing a large capacity magazine and several rounds of ammunition from a fanny pack Aviles was carrying. An open container of alcohol was also found inside the car.

During the investigation, the passengers were uncooperative and Velasco allegedly became aggressive with the officers. The passengers got out of the vehicle at one point and created a disturbance in the middle of the street. Police arrested Aviles for the firearm and Velasco was also arrested for the disturbance.

Aviles has been charged with the following:

    • Possession of a firearm without a license to carry
    • Unlawful possession of ammunition
    • Unlawful possession of a loaded firearm without a license to carry
    • Possession of a large capacity feeding device

Velasco has also been charged with:

    • Interfering with a police officer
    • Disorderly conduct
    • Window tint violation (Velasco is the owner of the vehicle)

The driver will also be summoned to court for a charge of open container of alcohol inside a vehicle.
