SFPD Arrests Armed Juveniles Linked to Catalytic Converter Thefts
On May 24, 2023, plainclothes officers from the San Francisco Police Department were conducting a catalytic converter abatement operation in the western neighborhoods of the city. While in the area, they received a report of a catalytic converter theft on Alemany Boulevard. The officers spotted a black 4-door sedan that had been reported stolen and followed it throughout the city before initiating a traffic stop on Edinburgh Street and Persia Avenue. The suspects fled, and the vehicle was later found on Cambridge Street and Stoneyford Avenue. Four juveniles, three aged 17 and one aged 15, were arrested by the officers.
