Track and Field: Zane Trace boys win final relay, place first at Division II district meet
WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE — Wyatt Vick knew how important Zane Trace's finish in the boys 4x400 relay was on Saturday. The Pioneers needed one final boost in the Division II district meet. They trailed Wheelersburg heading into the final event of the day, and the only chance for a repeat district title lay in a first-place finish in the relay. In spite of the heat, and some fatigue leftover from placing second in the 800-meter run earlier, Vick lined up for the last leg of his last race of the day, alongside teammates Charley Clyne, Peyton Dotson and Riley Hartsaugh.

Grove City, OH — The Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association will offer two presentations of Matinee Madness this week on the OHHA Facebook page. The first Matinee Madness will be a recap of the Saturday (May 18) matinee from the Darke County Fairgrounds in Greenville, Ohio. Susan Schroeder and Ayers Ratliff will host the show that includes interviews and highlights of the 22 races. The Greenville Matinee Madness will air Monday at 7 p.m.

Hillsboro and McClain boys and girls track and field athletes are moving on to regionals, after a strong showing at the Div. II Southeast District Meet in Washington Court House May 14 and 18. The event included a district runner-up trophy for the Lady Tigers and a combined seven event championships for Hillsboro and McClain, along with other top four finishes.
Softball Recap: Unioto extends home winning streak to 26

CHILLICOTHE — Twenty-two years of frustration without a district championship ended on Monday afternoon for the Fairfield Lions baseball program. Having a nine-run second inning in their Division IV Southeast District Final game against the Racine Southern Tornadoes, the Lions finally climbed their way back to the top of the SE District as they were the ones who controlled every aspect of the game at VA Memorial Stadium, defeating Racine Southern, 11-1 in five innings.

CHILLICOTHE — For the third consecutive season, the Fairfield Lions are going to play in the district finals. On Saturday afternoon, the No. 1 seeded Lions used early scoring and strong pitching to win their Division III SE District Semifinal game with a 4-2 victory over the No. 8 Ironton St. Joseph Central Flyers at VA Memorial Stadium.
