SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Police have arrested a North Brunswick man for calling in a bomb threat to a local warehouse, according to authorities. Police say that Luis Valentin Jr., age 27, turned himself in and was arrested for terrorism and causing false public alarm.

On Sunday, April 28, authorities say they responded to a bomb threat at the Pitney Bowes Warehouse, located at 117 Interstate Boulevard. The threat provided specific details and was disseminated to several employees via text message, according to a press release.

Nearly 100 employees evacuated the building while South Brunswick Police, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Police, and the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office searched the 50,000 square feet facility with K9 units. Authorities say they performed an extensive search of the building and deemed there was no threat.

South Brunswick Detective Brian Luck investigated the threats and determined the texts were from Valentin, a former employee at the warehouse. A warrant was signed for Valentin’s arrest. Authorities say he turned himself in to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office and was released after his initial Superior Court hearing.

“The events around the world has elevated every threat. This suspect wanted to create fear and disruption, but he will face the disruption in the months to come with court hearings,” Police Chief Raymond Hayducka said in a released statement, “I appreciate all the assistance we received from NJSP, Middlesex County Sheriff, and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.”
