A look at Tuesday’s headlines from our news partners at The Tribune-Democrat.

(WTAJ) — A home in Somerset Township is damaged after a fire Sunday night.

The fire was reported as fully involved when fire crews arrived at the 100 Block of Oxford Heights Road. Somerset Fire Department Safety Officer Dave Sube said responders at the scene reported that the blaze had progressed to the point that responders had to use a defensive attack from outside the home.

No injuries were reported and a state police fire marshal is investigating.

Residents in Jackson Township, Cambria County, slammed ideas of consolidation in the Central Cambria School District at a meeting Monday.

This comes after a feasibility study suggested that Jackson Elementary School should merge with Cambria Elementary School either all at once or over time. The residents cited longer commutes, inflated class sizes, and educational impact as downsides.

About 25 people signed up to speak at a public meeting that drew more than 100 attendees.
