SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that the long-term improvement project on State Route 403 will shift on Tuesday.

On May 14, the project will shift from Number 3 Road to Grove Avenue in southern Hooversville borough in Somerset County. The contractor will set up temporary traffic signals and a concrete barrier to create a 9-foot-wide single-lane traffic along Route 403 between Number 3 Road and Grove Avenue, stretching from just south of Hooversville north into southern Hooversville Borough.

Drivers should anticipate minor delays of between five and 15 minutes and are advised to use caution, obey all traffic signs, signals, and flaggers, and watch for construction personnel and vehicles.

The work being performed will include the removal and replacement of the existing box culvert with a new 48-inch x 76-inch elliptical pipe, as well as milling and overlay of the work area and other miscellaneous construction. The restrictions will be in place through May 31.

The work zone shift comes at the completion of the section of Route 403 between Folly Lane and Number 3 Road just south of Hooversville, which included removal of loose rock and installation of steel mesh material with anchors along the hillside slope area.

Pre-cast concrete barriers were installed, milling and overlay and other miscellaneous construction also took place.
