HOLYOKE — For eight years, Holyoke schools — and teachers — have operated under state oversight. During that time, the Holyoke teachers union was forced to keep a low profile. Robert Williams, a Holyoke Teachers Association organizer, said that under state receivership, teachers have been essentially working without a contract.

WORCESTER — On Monday, Worcester North High School was home to the Massachusetts Division II state semifinals. No. 2 Agawam played No. 3 Wayland in a nailbiter that saw the Warriors reverse sweep of the Brownies 3-2 (25-15, 25-16, 20-25, 23-25, and 17-19) to punch their ticket into the D-II state championship.
