    Northwood/Solon Springs baseball blanks Flambeau

    MINONG – With an undefeated mark of 12-0 in all games, Northwood/Solon Springs (NWSS), coached by Nathan Ahlberg, is ranked No. 3 in Wisconsin this week among WIAA Division 5 teams. The Evergreens currently lead the Lakeland East Conference with a record of 10-0, a game ahead of 9-1 Flambeau.

    On Monday, May 13, the Evergreens added an exclamation point as they traveled to Flambeau, toppling the Falcons 2-0.

    A pair of first inning runs were the only runs in the game, but they were enough to propel the Evergreens to victory behind the winning pitching of Abraham Ahlberg, who went 7 innings, allowed 4 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks and struck out 17.

    RBIs in the game came from Gunnar Golembiewski and Jared Schultz. Getting stolen bases in the game were Schultz and Isaiah Ahlberg. Scoring the runs for Northwood/Solon Springs were Schultz and Abraham Ahlberg.

    On Friday, May 17, NWSS will host Prairie Farm in Minong. On Saturday, May 18, the Evergreens have another battle with Flambeau, this time in Minong at 10 a.m. They close out the regular season at Cumberland on Tuesday, May 21.
