Northwood/Solon Springs softball tops New Auburn

MINONG — The Northwood/Solon Springs (NWSS) softball girls closed out the month of April with a nice win, topping New Auburn at Minong on Tuesday, April 30.

NWSS put up 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning, then added 2 in the third, 2 in the fourth and 6 in the fifth for the win.

Zoey Wilson pitched the win, going 2 innings, allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and striking out 5. Kendall Nelson pitched 3 innings, allowing 3 hits, 7 runs, 5 walks and striking out 4.

Batting for the Evergreens, Emily Adrihan, Audrey Swanson and Maddie Jacobs all belted triples.

Getting RBIs in the game were Nelson (3), Adrihan (2), Swanson (2), Karma Pressley, Kailynn Blegen, Paetyn Simenson and Jacobs.

Girls with stolen bases for NWSS included Simenson (2), Emmy Maria, Blegen, Swanson, Raya Johnston and Jacobs.

On Thursday, May 9, Northwood/Solon Springs will be on the road for a game at Birchwood/Winter at 5 p.m.
