Atlanta woman charged following Smyth County pursuit, authorities say
SMYTH COUNTY, Va. (WCYB) — An Atlanta woman has been charged following a pursuit that happened on Thursday, according to the Smyth County Sheriff's Office. A Smyth County deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding on Interstate 81, authorities said. Once the car stopped, it took off again and a pursuit began. Authorities said the suspect was going on I-81 south and got off in the town of Marion and continued to flee from officers before getting back onto I-81 south. Two attempts to use spike strips were unsuccessful, authorities added.
